Drew Benton has spent more than two decades in the nonprofit world leading and teaching one idea.
Love is something you do. Love is an action. Simply put, LIVE LOVE.
His career began in ministry, first as a student and college pastor, then in 2003 with Refuge Ministries, a speaking ministry where he shared messages of hope and love to thousands of teenagers and adults across the country and in Germany.
Somewhere in the middle of all that preaching about love, Drew realized he wanted to practice it. He stepped away from the pulpit to find out what that looked like.
He found out at Safehouse Outreach. A 2006 friendship with executive director Philip Bray led to a volunteer role, which became a full-time Director position in 2007 and three years serving the men and women of Atlanta experiencing homelessness — an experience that reshaped both his life and his work.
In 2009 he founded Project Live Love on the conviction that culture changes through love in action. Under his leadership the organization built THREE-OH-WE-GO, LIVE LOVE EVENTS, and GET SET — programs that activated more than 8,000 people to show love to others and reached over 25,000 people in need.

After more than a decade directing Project Live Love, Drew faced a new reality when COVID-19 changed the landscape of live events. He stepped back onto the front lines of Atlanta's homelessness response, returning to Safehouse Outreach and joining the Gateway Center team in 2022. He brought that experience back with him in 2026, when he returned as Chief Lover of Project Live Love. He is now launching the next generation of LIVE LOVE events and developing new and innovative ways to impact culture through love in action.
Drew still loves telling his personal story of learning to live love. He speaks wherever he's invited — companies, schools, churches, conferences — and consults with nonprofit leaders on volunteer management, board development, fundraising, and marketing.
